Each winter that passes here in Summerville, a cute and photogenic ice rink gets built up in the downtown area and we have always said that it would be awesome to photograph a couple there.

Well, we finally found the perfect couple to do it with, and it was awesome! If anything, we’re mad that we didn't do it sooner, but better late than never right?

We decided to send a request out into the world of Instagram and waited for volunteers.

Here is where Sam and Cody come in.

We knew right from the beginning that this couple was exactly who we needed for this session. Their love was undeniable and they had plenty of reasons to celebrate it, one big one actually, they were newly pregnant.

From the initial conversation it was clear we were going to get along with them. With Sam being a hairstylist here in Summerville, she is well aware of the hustle it takes to run your own business and mentally synced with Lauren right away.

We went over the details of the shoot and apologized ahead of time because Lauren most likely was going to fall on her bum as she less than gracefully attempted to maneuver on the ice while also handling our oh so expensive gear. But don’t worry, no people or camera gear were harmed in the making of these images

Showing up, the ice rink was pretty empty (YAY!) and the cloud cover was intense, setting the stage for some magic. We simply gave Sam & Cody prompts, kept them focused on why they were there and what their love meant to them and well, the rest is easy.

There may have been some close calls but definitely plenty of laughs as well as precious moments of love. This cultivated in a very successful and fun shoot that we are thrilled to have finally done.
