Tristan and Valentina met in Maryland while in training to become Air Force photojournalists – which is where we met them as well 🙂 When they graduated they headed out to their new assignments – on opposite coasts.

They have spent over a year apart, making trips back and forth to visit each other and spending weeks at a time apart. Any relationship that can survive that kind of test, must be real. So when these two asked us to shoot their engagement session we couldn't say no!

Both love nature and Tristan spends time volunteering planting trees, so it was obvious we needed to find a forest. That led us straight to Grass Valley which is about an hour north of Sacramento.

These photos really show off Tristan and Valentina and who they are as a couple together. Valentina is full of joy and her smile can make any grumpy soul smirk. Tristan, as serious as he is, feeds off her limitless joy and lights up like he's enduring a litter of puppies licking his face.
